U.S. President Donald Trump abruptly cut short his visit to the G7 summit in Canada on Monday night, citing the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel. The White House confirmed his early departure from the gathering in Kananaskis, Alberta. Trump has summoned the National Security Council for an emergency meeting upon his return to Washington, D.C.

In a striking post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump urged Iranians to “immediately evacuate Tehran.”

“Iran should have signed the ‘deal’ I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CANNOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again!” Trump added.

Trump’s exit from the G7 summit means he will miss key meetings scheduled for Tuesday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.

His departure comes as Israel and Iran continue to trade missile strikes for a fifth consecutive day. Hours after Trump’s social media post, explosions and anti-aircraft fire were reported over Tehran. Meanwhile, in Israel, air raid sirens sounded in Tel Aviv as Iranian missiles struck targets overnight.

U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced the deployment of additional military assets to the region to strengthen America’s defensive posture.

“Over the weekend, I directed the deployment of additional capabilities to the United States Central Command Area of Responsibility. Protecting U.S. forces is our top priority, and these deployments are intended to enhance our defensive posture in the region,” Hegseth said in a post on X.

However, media reports indicate that U.S. officials maintain the country will not directly participate in Israeli offensive operations.

Reacting to Trump’s early exit from the summit, French President Emmanuel Macron said, “If the United States can achieve a ceasefire, that’s a very good thing.” Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese called Trump’s decision “understandable,” despite a cancelled bilateral meeting on trade.

Despite rising tensions, Trump claimed the summit was productive. He and British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer announced a new tariff deal.

Following Trump’s dramatic call for civilians to “immediately evacuate Tehran,” the Indian Embassy in Iran issued a public advisory on Tuesday, urging Indian nationals in the country to get in touch with the mission without delay.
