Business tycoon and artist Ananya Birla has entered the beauty & personal care space.

Business tycoon and artist, Ananya Birla has announced her latest foray into India’s expanding beauty and personal care (BPC) market, which is expected to reach $34 billion by 2028.

Birla’s new venture will roll out a series of beauty and personal care brands nationwide this year. The brands will target a wide range of consumers across various segments, including makeup, fragrances, and other personal care products. The launch will be carried out in phases to reach a diverse audience.

India's BPC space is growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10-11%, driven by increasing disposable incomes, deeper e-commerce penetration, and consumer openness to new products.

In a statement about the venture, Ananya Birla said, “The beauty industry in India is evolving at an unprecedented pace, and consumers are increasingly seeking products that resonate with their individuality and lifestyle. With greater exposure to global products and knowledge, Indian consumers now demand more from home-grown brands—this venture aims to meet those expectations with authenticity and innovation and bring world-class products to the Indian marketplace.”

She added that the brand's strategy would focus on authenticity and redefining the consumer experience.

The brands will emphasise a product-first approach, with attention to differentiated packaging and international-quality standards.

As per the statement, Birla’s vision for the venture is not only to satisfy the demands of Indian consumers but also to establish a global presence, reflecting her aim to appeal to modern, discerning audiences worldwide.

Birla's entrepreneurial journey has been phenomenal. At the age of 17, she founded Svatantra Microfin, a microfinance organisation that has since become the second-largest and fastest-growing NBFC-MFI in India. Apart from the BFSI space, Birla has also made significant strides in the mental health space through the Ananya Birla Foundation, which has partnered with over 25 non-profit organisations, benefiting more than 30,000 community members in five Indian states.

Birla is also a key figure in the technology sector. She recently introduced a Beta version of Sophius, a homegrown AI platform, at IIT Bombay, with plans for a global launch. Her strategic insight extends to the Aditya Birla Group, where she serves as a Director on the board of the apex strategic body, ABMCPL, and as a board member of several group companies, aligning with the strategic goals of Hindalco, Grasim, and ABFRL.
