Tata Motors on Wednesday unveiled a comprehensive range of sustainable logistics and mass mobility vehicles and concepts across its CV segment, some of which will be powered by hydrogen.

"Our goal is to achieve net zero emissions by 2045 and Tata Motors is driving this change at great speed across the board," says N Chandrasekaran, executive chairman, Tata Sons and chairman, Tata Motors.

"For us it is not only about electric vehicles, it is about every new technology that can drive this change to deliver zero carbon emission travel and at the same time give customers a range of choices as well as driving comfort," the Tata Sons chief says.

In commercial vehicles, a comprehensive view has been taken to bring new mobility to urban and intra-city transport, efforts are already on for long distance, heavy duty need for commercial trucking and buses, he says.

For long-haul trucking, the automaker showcased four clean propulsion technologies integrated in the Prima range: Hydrogen ICE, Hydrogen Fuel Cell EV, Battery EV and LNG.

The company also unveiled Magic EV, an electrified version of its last-mile passenger transport vehicle.

Today, we have unveiled India’s cleanest, smartest, and most advanced range of logistics and mass mobility solutions across all segments of commercial vehicles," says Girish Wagh, executive director, Tata Motors.

The automaker plans to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040 for passenger vehicle business. "In the passenger cars, we've had successful launches in the past 3-4 years," says Chandrasekaran. "I truly believe that transition to electric mobility in India will happen much faster than what we are imagining," he adds.

The company is driving towards a greener future mandate which demands an urgent collaborative action to reduce carbon emission, says Shailesh Chandra, managing director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd.

"With an aim to attain net zero emission by 2040, we are spearheading this mission on the back of our three-gen EV architecture strategy. With the Tiago.ev, we have disrupted the market by making EVs more accessible. Today, we have unveiled products across Gen 2 and Gen 3 architecture with the Avinya, Harrier.EV and our showstopper-Sierra.EV which will make EVs more aspirational. EV contribution in our portfolio is likely to increase to 25% in 5 years and reach 50% by 2030," he adds.
