Net profit of software services firm Tech Mahindra dropped 16.4% year-on-year to ₹1,132 crore in the first quarter of the financial year 2022-23 from ₹1,353.20 crore in the year-ago period.
Revenue of the IT services company, however, jumped 24.6% to ₹12,708 crore compared with ₹10,197.60 crore in the corresponding quarter last year, according to its exchange filing. Dollar revenue for the quarter stood at $1,632 million, up 18% year-on-year. In constant currency terms, revenue growth stood at 3.5% quarter-on-quarter (QoQ).
Tech Mahindra's EBITDA, or earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation, during the quarter stood at ₹1,880 crore, up 0.2% compared to the year-ago period.
The company's attrition rate during the quarter on the last twelve-month basis fell to 22% from 24% in the March quarter but remained higher than 17% in the year-ago quarter.

The number of clients in the $50 million-plus bracket was at 23, the same as the January-March quarter. Clients in the $20 million-plus bracket jumped to 60 from 54 sequentially, and in the $10 million-plus bracket to 104 from 97.
At the end of the first quarter, the headcount of software professionals rose 26% year-on-year to 88,030. Headcount of BPO professionals jumped 23.6% to 61,392.
Net new deal wins for the quarter stood at $802 million, which was less than the January-March quarter's $1,011 million and the year-ago quarter's $815 million.
EBIT margin for the quarter came in at 11% compared with 13.2% in the previous quarter and 15.2% in the year-ago quarter.
