If you’re planning a quieter week indoors or weighing a trip to the cinema, the final days of January offer a well-rounded mix of fresh entertainment. OTT platforms are rolling out marquee titles spanning romance, espionage, crime, and comedy, while Indian theatres are welcoming a handful of high-profile releases across genres. Here’s a curated guide to what to watch on OTT platforms and in theatres this week (January 26 to February 1, 2026).
On the streaming front, Netflix’s globally popular period drama Bridgerton returns with its fourth season, shifting focus to the bohemian Benedict Bridgerton (played by Luke Thompson). Inspired by a Cinderella-style romance, Season 4 explores themes of love, class, and identity through the relationship between Benedict and Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha). Spread across eight episodes, the season has been split into two parts: Part 1 arrived on Netflix on January 29, with the conclusion slated for February 26—an approach Netflix continues to favour for its tentpole series.
Another major Netflix arrival is Dhurandhar, which makes its much-anticipated OTT debut following a blockbuster theatrical run. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the spy action thriller stars Ranveer Singh alongside Akshaye Khanna as an undercover RAW agent operating deep inside Karachi’s criminal and political ecosystem. Loosely inspired by real-life events such as the IC-814 hijacking and the 2008 Mumbai attacks, the film reportedly crossed ₹1,100 crore worldwide after its December 2025 release, making it one of the highest-grossing Hindi films in Indian cinema. The film began streaming on Netflix on January 30.

Crime thriller enthusiasts also have reason to tune in this week with Daldal, which arrived on Amazon Prime Video on January 30. Based on Vish Dhamija’s novel Bhendi Bazaar, the series stars Bhumi Pednekar as DCP Rita Ferreira, a newly appointed Mumbai Crime Branch officer tracking a ruthless serial killer. As the investigation intensifies, the psychological toll of the case forces her to confront unresolved personal trauma, adding emotional depth to the procedural narrative.
Apple TV+ continues its steady run of prestige content with Shrinking Season 3, which premiered on Apple TV+ on January 28. Starring Jason Segel and Harrison Ford, the season delves deeper into themes of grief, healing, and life transitions, with Ford’s character grappling with Parkinson’s disease. The inclusion of Michael J. Fox in a meaningful guest role lends added emotional resonance to the storyline, reinforcing the show’s balance of humour and poignancy.
Prime Video, meanwhile, offers a more action-driven option with The Wrecking Crew, streaming on Amazon Prime Video from January 28. Starring Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista as estranged half-brothers—a cop and a Navy SEAL—the film follows the duo as they are drawn together after their father’s mysterious death in Hawaii. Directed by Ángel Manuel Soto, the film blends family drama, conspiracy, and stylised action into a fast-paced watch.
Music fans can revisit pop history with Take That, a three-part documentary streaming on Netflix from January 27. Chronicling the British boy band’s 35-year journey, the series features rare archival footage and candid interviews, offering an intimate look at fame, friendship, and reinvention.
On JioHotstar, romantic drama Gustaakh Ishq finally finds its OTT audience after a limited theatrical run, streaming from January 27. Produced by Manish and Dinesh Malhotra and starring Fatima Sana Shaikh and Vijay Varma, the film offers a lyrical, understated take on modern relationships and emotional vulnerability.
Away from home screens, Indian theatres are also seeing a select but noteworthy slate of releases. Leading the pack is Mardaani 3, which released in cinemas on January 30 and marks Rani Mukerji’s return as Shivani Shivaji Roy. The third instalment in Yash Raj Films’ gritty franchise tackles the issue of child trafficking, continuing the series’ tradition of socially charged storytelling rooted in hard-hitting realism.
Also in cinemas on January 30 is Send Help, directed by Sam Raimi. Starring Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien, the survival thriller centres on two co-workers stranded on a deserted island after a plane crash, forcing a tense recalibration of power, trust, and survival instincts.
Completing the theatrical lineup is Gandhi Talks, which arrived in cinemas on January 30. Featuring Vijay Sethupathi, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Arvind Swamy, the film is known for its restrained storytelling and minimal dialogue, exploring themes of silence, communication, and inner conflict following a festival run.
Together, this week’s releases underline a strong start to 2026 for both OTT platforms and theatres. Whether viewers are drawn to lavish romance, high-stakes espionage, psychological crime, or socially driven drama, the final week of January offers ample choice—on screens big and small.
