Golden Goose opens third store in India at Palladium Mumbai

Coveted Italian luxury brand Golden Goose opened its Mumbai store at The Palladium mall on December 11, making it the brand’s third store in India after Delhi and Bangalore. Marking the occasion was a collaboration with India’s leading fashion designer Manish Malhotra, through which the designer and the brand co-created two sneakers, drawing creative inputs from both sides.

The brand, well known for its distressed looks—each piece undergoes a special process to achieve the ‘worn-out’ or ‘carelessly used’ appearance that gives the brand its unique identity, with its ‘imperfect’ or partially hidden star patches denoting that human beings are not perfect—also made sure that an Indian creative force, Manish Malhotra, joined hands with it to co-create something unique to mark the occasion.

The sprawling store, with merchandise ranging from the brand’s signature luxury sneakers to jackets, clothing and accessories, also played host to the unveiling of the co-created sneakers. “We have three stores in India now, and at the moment we don’t plan to open any more. Instead, we want to wait and see how these stores will be received here. As for the collaboration, Manish is the perfect person to amplify the brand’s message to the people of India,” said Golden Goose CEO Silvio Campara.

The two sneakers reflected a refined balance between Golden Goose’s craftsmanship and Manish’s signature opulence. The women’s sneaker, created in white cream suede, was embellished with delicate gold floral embroidery, while the men’s version featured the same intricate motif on a sleek black suede base. Each design embodied Manish’s aesthetic—elegant, expressive and deeply rooted in artisanal tradition.

During the launch event, guests were invited to collaborate with Golden Goose artisans, known as Dream Makers, through the brand’s co-creation experience, adding personalised details to their sneakers. To further highlight craftsmanship and exclusivity, clients selected from different sneaker tongues, each uniquely adorned with crystal charms and brooches, resulting in truly one-of-a-kind creations.

“For me, this collaboration was about bringing my journey as a couturier together with Golden Goose’s artisanal heritage. From the very beginning, I wanted to experiment with embroideries and floral motifs in a fresh way, allowing the spirit of Indian craftsmanship to meet Italian design,” said Manish Malhotra.
