The third week of November lands with a wave of heavyweight releases, turning both streaming platforms and cinemas into a bustling showcase of marquee storytelling. Franchise favourites return with fresh chapters, global biographical dramas make their OTT debut, and India’s Oscar hopeful arrives on streaming alongside ambitious regional offerings. It’s a weekend where prestige content sits comfortably next to mass entertainment, reflecting the breadth and confidence of today’s entertainment landscape.

OTT releases this week

Prime Video leads the lineup with The Family Man Season 3, which begins streaming on November 21. Manoj Bajpayee returns as Srikant Tiwari, this time confronting a Northeast drug-war conflict, with Jaideep Ahlawat joining the cast as the central antagonist. Directed by Raj & DK, the series arrives with high expectations and is positioned as one of the platform’s flagship launches of 2025.

Netflix counters with a strong set of titles. Homebound, India’s official entry to the Oscars, premieres on November 21 on the service. Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan and starring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor, the film explores friendship, ambition and the pressures of breaking out of one’s circumstances.

On November 17, Netflix also added Back to Black, the Amy Winehouse biographical drama featuring Marisa Abela in a deeply observed performance. Rounding off its week is Dining with the Kapoors, a family special that begins streaming on November 21, bringing together Ranbir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan to mark Raj Kapoor’s 100th birth anniversary.

Netflix’s extensive lineup this week also includes Train Dreams, which releases on November 21, and One Shot with Ed Sheeran, an innovative single-take music special releasing the same day.

ZEE5 brings political drama to the fore with The Bengal Files, releasing on November 21. Directed by Vivek Agnihotri, the film revisits Direct Action Day and the Noakhali riots, framing the narrative through a CBI officer’s investigation.

JioHotstar, meanwhile, presents two contrasting titles: The Roses, a darkly comic reimagining of The War of the Roses, which released on November 20 and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Olivia Colman, Andy Samberg and Allison Janney; and Ziddi Ishq, a Hindi–Bengali romantic thriller from director Raj Chakraborty, premiering on November 21 and featuring Aaditi Pohankar, Sumeet Vyas, Priyanshu Painyuli, Barkha Bisht and Parambrata Chattopadhyay in key roles. The platform also expands its international catalogue with the Hollywood horror Night Swim, which released on November 19 and stars Wyatt Russell and Kerry Condon.

The global and regional catalogue expands further with Netflix’s release of A Man on the Inside Season 2, which released on November 20, the American comedy series led by Ted Danson; Prime Video’s The Mighty Nein, which began streaming on November 19; JioHotstar’s Tamil sports drama Nadu Center, which released on November 20; and Netflix’s multilingual rollout of the Dhruv Vikram–starrer Bison, releasing on November 21.

Prime Video also strengthens its slate with After the Hunt, the Julia Roberts–Andrew Garfield campus thriller that released on November 20, while Netflix builds out its festive offerings with the Paris-set romantic drama Champagne Problems, which released on November 19.

In theatres this week

For those heading to cinemas, the theatrical slate is equally compelling. Farhan Akhtar returns to the big screen with 120 Bahadur, which releases on November 21 and revisits the bravery displayed during the Battle of Rezang La.

The popular comedy franchise Mastiii also returns with its fourth instalment on November 21, bringing together Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani and Arshad Warsi.

Among regional highlights, Malayalam cinema offers Vilaayath Buddha, releasing on November 21, with Prithviraj Sukumaran playing a smuggler locked in a tense conflict over a rare sandalwood tree. Globally, the musical fantasy Wicked: For Good also hits theatres on November 21, marking the conclusion of the two-part adaptation led by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande.

Across OTT platforms and theatres, this week stands out for the sheer range of storytelling on display: from a high-octane espionage comeback and an Oscar-bound Indian drama to political retellings, global biopics, and intimate family specials. Whether you are tuning in at home or planning a theatre outing, there is no shortage of fresh releases to dive into — and whichever direction you choose, the weekend promises a story worth your time.
