Vicky Kaushal starrer Chhaava is 2025's major blockbuster: On the way to earn ₹200 crore

Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava is proving to be Bollywood’s first major box-office triumph of 2025, smashing records and holding its ground even after its first weekend. The historical drama collected ₹24 crore nett on Monday, bringing its total domestic earnings to ₹140.5 crore, according to box office tracker Sacnilk. Globally, its gross collection has reached ₹195.60 crore as of Monday.

While Chhaava has seen a predictable dip in collections post-Sunday, theatre occupancy has remained steady, particularly in key markets like Mumbai and Pune, where audience engagement continues to be strong. The film is now poised to become the first 2025 release to breach the ₹200 crore mark, with its India gross standing at ₹168.60 crore.

Despite mixed reviews, the film’s performance remains exceptional, particularly when compared to other recent Bollywood releases. On its first Monday, Chhaava outperformed the combined Monday earnings of Sky Force (₹7 crore), Deva (₹2.75 crore), Emergency (₹1.05 crore), Fateh (₹0.95 crore), Azaad (₹0.65 crore), Badass Ravikumar (₹0.6 crore), and Loveyapa (₹0.55 crore). Its ₹24 crore Monday haul represents a 50.52% decline from its ₹48.5 crore Sunday collection—still a remarkable retention rate for a post-weekend release.
