The first week of March brings a diverse mix of films and series across streaming platforms and theatres, offering viewers a blend of action, romance, experimental storytelling and real-life inspired narratives. Platforms such as Netflix, Prime Video and ZEE5 are leading the OTT slate this week with several new titles, while cinemas have also introduced a few fresh releases alongside a couple of notable re-releases.

OTT releases this week

Among the biggest OTT premieres this week is Subedaar, which began streaming on Prime Video on March 5. Directed by Suresh Triveni, the action drama stars Anil Kapoor as Arjun Maurya, a retired army officer struggling to adjust to civilian life in a crime-ridden town in Madhya Pradesh. As he attempts to rebuild his relationship with his daughter and find peace after years of service, a local mafia threatens his family and community, forcing him to return to the instincts he once relied on in the military.

Prime Video also introduces Young Sherlock, directed by Guy Ritchie, which premiered on the platform on March 4. The series reimagines the iconic detective as a 19-year-old student at Oxford University in the 1870s. Inspired by Andrew Lane’s novels, it explores the early life of Sherlock Holmes and his first brush with a complex murder investigation that sets him on the path toward becoming the legendary detective.

Netflix’s lineup this week includes Hello Bachhon, a biographical drama inspired by the life of Alakh Pandey, founder of the edtech company Physics Wallah. The series, which began streaming on Netflix on March 6, follows the journey of a passionate teacher who rises from modest beginnings to build one of India’s most influential online education platforms. The narrative explores the pressures of India’s competitive academic environment while highlighting the entrepreneurial grit behind the growth of the edtech sector.

Netflix also adds a dose of romance and fantasy with the Korean drama Boyfriend on Demand, which began streaming on the platform on March 6. The series features Blackpink’s Jisoo as an overworked webtoon producer who subscribes to a virtual dating service in search of an escape from her stressful life. What begins as harmless escapism gradually blurs the line between digital relationships and real-life emotions.

The platform also streams With Love, which premiered on Netflix on March 6, a romantic drama about two former schoolmates who reconnect during a blind date and find themselves revisiting unresolved chapters from their past.

ZEE5, meanwhile, brings two new titles this week. Gandhi Talks, directed by Kishor Pandurang Belekar, began streaming on ZEE5 on March 6. The film stands out for its experimental format, unfolding almost entirely without spoken dialogue and relying instead on visual storytelling supported by a musical score by A.R. Rahman.

Also arriving on the platform the same day is Jab Khuli Kitaab, written and directed by Saurabh Shukla. Streaming on ZEE5 from March 6, the film stars Pankaj Kapur and Dimple Kapadia and tells the story of a couple whose five-decade-long marriage is shaken when a long-buried secret comes to light, forcing them to reconsider their relationship in their seventies.

For viewers looking for suspense, Apple TV+ is streaming The Hunt, a thriller that debuted on the platform on March 4. The film follows a weekend hunting trip that spirals into a deadly game of survival after a violent confrontation between two groups of hunters.

Cricket fans also have another reason to tune in this weekend, as India will face New Zealand in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final on Sunday, March 8, with live streaming available on the JioHotstar platform.

What’s on the Big Screen?

The theatrical slate this week includes a mix of new films and re-releases. Charak: Fair of Faith, released in cinemas on March 6, is a dark drama set against the backdrop of the Charak Mela and explores the complicated intersection of belief, ritual and morality.

Another new release, Na Jaane Kaun Aa Gaya, which also arrived in theatres on March 6, is a romantic drama about a couple whose relationship is disrupted by the sudden arrival of a mysterious third person.

Alongside these new titles, a few well-known films have also returned to the big screen. The romantic comedy Hasee Toh Phasee, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Parineeti Chopra, has been re-released in theatres on March 6. Meanwhile, Salman Khan’s 2003 romantic drama Tere Naam returned to cinemas earlier, with its re-release beginning on February 27, 2026.

With the high-stakes clash adding to a lineup of new OTT premieres, experimental cinema and nostalgic theatrical re-releases, this weekend offers plenty of entertainment options whether viewers choose to stream from home, head to the theatre, or catch the big match.
