Britannia Industries Limited, founded in 1892, is one of India’s oldest food companies, headquartered in Kolkata. It deals with biscuits, bread, rusk, cakes and dairy products. Currently, it is part of the Wadia Group headed by Nusli Wadia. About 80% of its revenues come from biscuit products. The brand names of Britannia's biscuits include MarieGold, Nutrichoice, Good Day, 50 50, etc. Its operations span over 80 countries. In 1978, Britannia came out with its public issue. The company was established initially by a group of British businessmen. During World War II, it was the Britannia Biscuit Company which supplied biscuits to the British Army. The company name was changed to the current Britannia Industries Limited in 1979. The company's factories have an annual capacity of 433,000 tonnes. It also runs a non-profit Britannia Nutrition Foundation that advocates for better child nutrition and addresses child malnutrition issues in India.
