Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd., popularly known as Jio, announced on Wednesday that Jio has surpassed the 500 million users mark, just days before the telecom service provider completes its 9 years.
This makes Jio the world's largest mobile data network, much larger than the combined population of United States, the United Kingdom and France, the company said in its statement.
According to the latest TRAI August subscriber report, Bharti Airtel has over 300 million subscribers, followed by Vodafone at a distant around 121 million subscribers.
“Reaching this scale within a single nation is a reflection of how deeply Jio has become a part of everyday life, and it shows the incredible power of connectivity in shaping a vibrant digital society,” Akash Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, said in a statement.
“As we look ahead, we will continue this journey with even greater resolve - bringing the best technology into the hands of hundreds of millions of Indians, making it accessible, meaningful, and transformative,” he added.
On account of its 9th anniversary, the network has announced special data plans for both its prepaid and postpaid users, and for both mobile and JioHome users.
