In recent days, India-U.S. relationship has taken a backseat. Recently, he had posted a picture on Truth Social of India’s PM Modi with Russian and Chinese presidents, calling that ‘we have lost India to the darkest China.’

However, a few days back, Trump retracted his statement and called PM Modi a friend.

To which, PM Modi responded in a post on X saying, “deeply appreciate and fully reciprocate President Trump's sentiments and positive assessment of our ties. India and the US have a very positive and forward-looking Comprehensive and Global Strategic Partnership.”

PM Modi is yet to respond to Trump’s Wednesday remarks.

Following this post, it may be expected that the two countries’ delegation may meet soon in the coming days to arrive at a conclusion on the trade deal.

India-U.S. trade talks had hit a roadblock in August when Trump had put an additional 25% tariff rate on Indian exports to the U.S. taking the total tariff rate applicable on such products to 50%. Unlike China, Indian exports have started facing the revised tariff rate from August 27. A probable bilateral deal will bring relief to Indian exporters.
