As per the Bloomberg Billionaire Index, Gautam Adani ranks 20th globally, with an estimated net worth of $84.7 billion, and is Asia's second richest tycoon
Gautam Adani, Chairman of the multi-billion-dollar Adani Group and India's second richest business tycoon, received a total remuneration of ₹10.41 crore in the financial year ending March 31, 2025. Despite an increase of 12% from the previous year’s ₹9.26 crore, Adani's remuneration is significantly lower compared to his peers in the Indian industry.
The 62-year-old Adani's remuneration was drawn from nine of his listed companies, as shown in the annual reports of these ports-to-energy conglomerate entities.
Adani received the highest remuneration of ₹7.87 crore (comprising a salary of ₹1.8 crore and a commission of ₹6.07 crore) from Adani Ports & SEZ. According to data compiled by the news agency PTI, his overall compensation from the leading firm, Adani Enterprises, amounted to ₹2.26 crore, along with an extra ₹28 lakh in perks, allowances, and other benefits.
At ₹10.41 crore, Adani's remuneration is not only lower than some of his peers, but also less than a couple of chief executives within his own group companies. For example, Adani Enterprises CEO Vinay Prakash took home a total remuneration of ₹69.34 crore, including ₹4 crore in salary, and ₹65.34 crore in perquisites, allowances, and variable incentives.
Adani Green Energy MD Vneet S Jaain's total package was ₹11.23 crore. Gautam Adani's son, Karan Adani, received ₹7.09 crore from APSEZ alone. Gautam Adani's younger brother, Rajesh Adani, earned ₹9.87 crore from Adani Enterprises alone.
As per the Bloomberg Billionaire Index, Gautam Adani ranks 20th globally, with an estimated net worth of $84.7 billion. This is lower than RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani, who ranks 17th on the list with a total net worth of $105 billion. In 2022, Adani had emerged as Asia's richest businessman before a report by U.S. short-seller Hindenburg Research led to an adverse impact on the group's market value, causing him to slip to the second spot. In 2023, he rose to the number one position in Asia yet again, only to fall back to the second spot amid RIL's steady run.
Notably, Mukesh Ambani has been forgoing his entire remuneration since Covid-19 broke out in 2019. Before that, his remuneration stood at ₹15 crore. Similarly, the remuneration of telecom giant Bharti Airtel chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal and Bajaj Auto MD Rajiv Bajaj stood at ₹32.27 crore and ₹53.75 crore, respectively, in FY24. Gautam Adani's package is also lower than tycoons such as Pawan Munjal (₹109 crore in FY24), L&T chairman S. N. Subrahmanyan (₹76.25 crore in FY25), and Infosys CEO Salil S. Parekh (₹80.62 crore in FY25).
