BMW Motorrad has expanded its mid-capacity motorcycle lineup in India with the launch of the F 450 GS, priced between ₹4.7 lakh and ₹5.3 lakh (ex-showroom). The adventure motorcycle is now open for bookings, with deliveries scheduled to begin from June 2026.

The model has been developed in Germany and will be locally produced in India, underlining the company’s push to scale volumes in the premium motorcycle segment. The launch also signals BMW Motorrad’s intent to deepen its presence in the growing 400cc–500cc category, which is witnessing increased traction among urban and touring-focused riders.

Twin-cylinder platform and feature-led differentiation

The BMW F 450 GS is powered by a newly developed 450cc twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine producing 48 hp and 43 Nm of torque. The motorcycle features a 135-degree crankshaft offset, designed to deliver smoother performance and reduced vibrations.

According to the company statement, a key highlight is the inclusion of segment-first features such as the Easy Ride Clutch (ERC), which automates low-speed clutch engagement, and Shift Assistant Pro, enabling clutchless gear shifts—aimed at improving usability across city and off-road conditions.

The F 450 GS is built on a tubular steel frame with adjustable suspension, positioning it as an entry point into BMW’s GS adventure lineup. It offers four riding modes—Rain, Road, Enduro and Enduro Pro—along with safety systems such as ABS Pro, Dynamic Traction Control and Dynamic Brake Control.

The motorcycle is also equipped with a 6.5-inch TFT display that provides ride analytics, including traction and braking data, along with connectivity features.

Pricing strategy and India growth focus

The motorcycle is offered in three variants—Base (₹4.7 lakh), Exclusive (₹4.9 lakh) and GS Trophy (₹5.3 lakh). BMW is also bundling financing options through its financial services arm, with EMIs starting at ₹9,999 per month and bundled service packages.

Commenting on the launch, Hardeep Singh Brar said the model is aimed at a new generation of riders and has been developed keeping India’s diverse road conditions in mind. He added that India remains a strategic growth market for BMW Motorrad, with the new motorcycle expected to expand participation in the premium segment.

With local production and a feature-led positioning, the F 450 GS is expected to strengthen BMW Motorrad’s foothold in India’s evolving adventure touring category.
