Hero MotoCorp has expanded its global footprint with a strategic entry into Ecuador, partnering local distributor Quilmotors to drive assembly, sales, and after-sales operations in the South American market. The move marks a calibrated push by the world’s largest two-wheeler maker to deepen its presence in Latin America, a region seen as a high-growth mobility market.
As part of the rollout, the Pawan Munjal-led automaker will inaugurate its first flagship dealership in Guayaquil, a key automotive hub, showcasing its upcoming 2027 product portfolio. The facility will house sales, service, and spare parts under one roof, aimed at delivering a premium and integrated customer experience.
Commenting on the development, Sanjay Bhan, Executive Vice President – Global Business at Hero MotoCorp, said Ecuador offers strong growth potential driven by rising demand for reliable mobility solutions. The partnership with Quilmotors is expected to combine local market expertise with Hero’s global manufacturing and product capabilities.
Hero MotoCorp will introduce an initial portfolio of eight models tailored to Ecuador’s varied terrain and usage patterns. The line-up spans commuter motorcycles, premium streetfighters, dual-purpose off-road bikes, and urban scooters.
Key offerings include the Eco series targeting cost-conscious riders, the Hunk range for urban performance enthusiasts, and the Xpulse 200 4V platform designed for adventure and off-road riding. The Xoom scooter range will cater to urban mobility needs. This multi-segment strategy is aimed at capturing a broad consumer base across price points and riding preferences.
To strengthen its value proposition, the company is offering a 5-year or 60,000-km warranty—positioned as one of the most comprehensive in the Ecuadorian market. This, coupled with Quilmotors’ expanding after-sales and service network, is expected to enhance customer confidence and ownership experience.
The next phase of expansion will focus on scaling presence across key cities including Quito, Manta, and Manabi province, improving accessibility and distribution reach.
Hero MotoCorp’s latest move into Ecuador builds on a steadily evolving international strategy that began in the early 2010s after the company parted ways with Honda. Since then, it has methodically expanded across Asia, Africa, and Latin America, focusing on markets where two-wheelers remain a primary mode of transport.
