Hindalco Industries, the world's largest aluminium company by revenue, on Friday reported its “strongest-ever performance” for the June quarter, achieving record highs in revenue, EBITDA and net profit, driven by robust growth in its India business and a recovery at subsidiary Novelis.

The Aditya Birla Group company's consolidated net profit surged 75% year-on-year (YoY) to a record ₹7,013 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2026 (Q1 FY27), while revenue from operations rose 32% YoY to an all-time high of ₹84,825 crore.

On the operating level, consolidated EBITDA jumped 73% to a record ₹14,989 crore from ₹8,673 crore in the year-ago quarter.

"Hindalco's milestone performance was driven by favourable macro tailwinds and the company's strategic focus on resource security, premium product innovation and relentless operational excellence," the company said in its earnings report.

Record performance across businesses

As per the company, all key businesses - India Aluminium, Copper and Novelis - reported their highest-ever quarterly EBITDA during the quarter. Aluminium Upstream EBITDA rose 81% to a record ₹7,390 crore, Copper EBITDA increased 36% to ₹918 crore, while Novelis' adjusted EBITDA climbed 37% to an all-time high of ₹4,875 crore.

"Hindalco has started FY27 on a strong note, delivering record Revenue, EBITDA and PAT, with every business segment contributing meaningfully to this performance," said Satish Pai, Managing Director, Hindalco Industries.

"Our India business delivered another record quarterly performance while Novelis reported improved profitability supported by the successful restart of Oswego and continued benefits from cost optimisation measures. Our Aluminium Upstream business reported an all-time high EBITDA, backed by favourable macros and operational efficiencies," Pai said.

He added that the Copper and Aluminium Downstream businesses also delivered record quarterly EBITDA, reflecting "the continued strength of our diversified business model, value-added products and operational excellence."

Growth pipeline remains robust

Novelis' profitability improved following the successful restart of its Oswego hot mill, with gains from its cost optimisation programme further supporting earnings. Production at the Oswego plant has resumed and is ramping up, while the commissioning process at the Bay Minette facility is underway.

Looking ahead, Pai said Hindalco's investment pipeline remains robust across both upstream and downstream businesses.

"As we continue to expand upstream capacities in alumina, aluminium and copper, we are scaling up our downstream projects. Projects such as Aditya FRP, battery foil, battery enclosure and Inner Grooved Tube are progressing well, while the ramp-up of Novelis' Oswego plant and Bay Minette plant will mark another milestone in our downstream growth journey," he said.

U.S. govt shutdown delays AluChem acquisition review

Separately, Hindalco updated investors on the proposed acquisition of AluChem Companies, Inc. by Aditya Holdings LLC, its step-down wholly owned subsidiary. The company said the review by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) has been delayed due to a partial shutdown of the U.S. federal government.

"Due to partial shutdown of the U.S. federal government, the statutory timelines under the CFIUS review framework were tolled, thereby impacting the ongoing CFIUS review process," the company said. It added that "the matter, however, is progressing and is anticipated to reach finality by September 2, 2026," subject to receipt of final regulatory clearance.

To invest ₹768 crore in Kuppam capacity expansion

In a separate development, Hindalco informed the stock exchanges that it has approved a capacity expansion at its Kuppam unit in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh, to support its long-term growth strategy. The project will add up to 10 kilo-tonnes per annum (KTPA) of capacity to the existing 20 KTPA facility, taking the total capacity to up to 30 KTPA. The expansion is targeted for commissioning by FY29.

The company will invest ₹768 crore in the project, excluding ₹40 crore towards interest during construction. The expansion will be funded through a mix of internal accruals and debt.

Following the earnings announcement, Hindalco shares ended 2.67% higher at ₹1,054 on the BSE, with a market capitalisation of ₹2.36 lakh crore.
