MobiKwik has appointed Saurabh Dwivedi as Chief Technology Officer, as the digital payments firm looks to sharpen its technology focus amid intensifying competition in the fintech sector.
The appointment comes as MobiKwik focuses on integrating artificial intelligence into its product and service offerings. As CTO, Dwivedi will oversee engineering functions across Payments, Financial Services, Core Platform, and Infrastructure & Information Security. His mandate includes leveraging AI to improve collections, customer service, and product development.
Dwivedi joined MobiKwik in August 2023 as Senior Vice President of Engineering for its Payments division.
Dwivedi previously worked at MakeMyTrip, where he led engineering teams responsible for scaling the travel booking platform. He has also held positions at American Express (India) and Satyam Computer Services. Dwivedi holds a B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering from GGSIP University, Delhi, and has completed an advanced course in business analytics from IIT Mumbai.
In a parallel move, MobiKwik has promoted Dhruv Wadhera to Senior Vice President of Offline Payments. Wadhera has led MobiKwik’s Offline Payments business since June 2023 and has focused on expanding the company’s reach among small merchants and businesses across India. Before joining MobiKwik, Wadhera spent eight years at Zomato, where he managed P&L operations across North and East India.
The leadership changes come as MobiKwik seeks to strengthen its position in India’s competitive digital payments market, which has seen rapid adoption of UPI-based services and increasing interest from both established players and startups. According to the company, MobiKwik currently has over 176 million registered users and works with more than 4.6 million merchants.
MobiKwik, founded in 2009 by Bipin Preet Singh and Upasana Taku, held the largest market share among digital wallets in India by gross transaction value as of November 2024, according to a RedSeer report.
