Ashoka University said 16 of its students and alumni have secured 18 prestigious international scholarships this year, marking the highest number of global scholarships won by the institution in a single year. The scholarships will enable the recipients to pursue higher education at leading universities across the UK, the US, Europe and Singapore.

The scholarships secured by Ashoka students include one Rhodes Scholarship, one Gates Cambridge Scholarship, one Inlaks Scholarship, one Fulbright-Nehru Master's Fellowship, one Chevening Scholarship, one Commonwealth Shared Scholarship, one ADB Bank Japan Scholarship, one Dr Hettie Elgood Scholarship, one Havells Wake Forest Scholarship, three Felix Scholarships and six Erasmus Mundus Scholarships, according to the university.

The awardees will pursue postgraduate programmes at leading global institutions, including the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, Stanford University, the London School of Economics and Political Science, SOAS University of London, the National University of Singapore, Wake Forest University and several European universities under the Erasmus Mundus programme.

Commenting on the achievement, Professor Somak Raychaudhury, vice chancellor of Ashoka University, said, "This year marks a historic milestone for Ashoka University, with our students securing the highest number of prestigious international scholarships in the University's history. These achievements clearly demonstrate the extraordinary talent, dedication, skills and intellectual rigour of our students, as well as the strength of the educational environment at Ashoka."

The university said the success of its students reflects the growing global recognition of its interdisciplinary education model and its emphasis on academic excellence, leadership and research. Established in 2014, Ashoka University has more than 3,000 students, operates over 20 Centres of Excellence, and offers programmes across the natural sciences, social sciences and humanities. According to the university, over 47% of its students receive scholarships, while women account for more than 57% of the student community.
