The Indian benchmark indices are expected to open on a tepid note today, as the US markets ended lower for the second consecutive session, with investors booking profits. Asian markets tracked similar cues, resulting in mixed trade. This comes in after U.S. Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell remarked that “equity prices are fairly highly valued” in his speech yesterday at the Greater Providence Chamber of Commerce 2025 Economic Outlook.

On the domestic front, investors maintained caution while booking profits from last week’s rally on the back of GST reforms. Investors would be tracking cues on developments of the India-US trade deal, even as sentiments remain tempered by the H1B visa fee hike.

The Gift Nifty Futures index, too, indicated a weak start. At 8:20 am, the Gift Nifty was trading marginally above by 11 points, or 0.05% from yesterday’s close.
