Bank of India (BOI) was founded by a group of businessmen from Mumbai in 1906. It remained under private ownership till 1969, when it was nationalised with 13 other Indian banks. The bank offers personal banking, corporate banking, NRI banking, agri banking, foreign exchange services, and investment and insurance avenues to its customers. The bank has been a pioneer in introducing the Health Code System in India for evaluation of its credit portfolio. BOI is a founder member of the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications (SWIFT) in India as well. BOI owns more than 5100 branches in India, across all states and union territories, and marks its presence in more than 47 branches over 15 countries globally.
