In a move designed to future-proof its equity offerings and strengthen investor engagement, LIC Mutual Fund (LIC MF) has announced the reintroduction of five of its flagship equity schemes. The move signals the fund house’s sharpened focus on adapting to market dynamics while tapping into India’s expanding base of retail investors.
As of April 2025, LIC MF manages a diverse portfolio of 41 schemes across equity, debt, hybrid, and ETF categories. The fund house recorded a significant 11% growth in assets under management (AUM)—from ₹33,854 crore in March to ₹37,554 crore in April 2025—highlighting strong portfolio traction and growing investor confidence.
The five reintroduced equity funds—LIC MF Value Fund, LIC MF Small Cap Fund, LIC MF Multi-Asset Allocation Fund, LIC MF Dividend Yield Fund, and LIC MF Focused Fund—have been repositioned under the ‘Funds in Focus Q1FY25’ strategy, integrating new technologies and refreshed investment approaches.
“We are re-introducing these five flagship equity schemes, which have the potential to generate significant wealth for investors with diverse financial needs over the long term,” said Yogesh Patil, Chief Investment Officer–Equity. “We believe the investment objectives of these funds will be aligned with the aspirations of young as well as new investors, catering to their diverse financial goals and delivering better returns notwithstanding the challenging market conditions.”
The five funds in focus include the LIC MF Value Fund, which is anchored in value investing. This fund targets fundamentally sound businesses temporarily undervalued due to market dislocations. Ideal for long-term investors seeking resilient, underpriced opportunities. LIC MF Small Cap Fund eyes on scalability and India’s structural growth, this fund invests in under-researched early-stage companies. Tailored for high-risk investors with a horizon of five years or more.
LIC MF Multi-Asset Allocation Fund, on the other hand, dynamically balances equity, debt, and commodities (including gold and silver), aiming to deliver superior risk-adjusted returns through market cycles. LIC MF Dividend Yield Fund focuses on companies with strong cash flows and consistent dividend histories, making it suitable for investors looking to blend stable income with capital appreciation. LIC MF Focused Fund is a concentrated portfolio of up to 30 high-conviction stocks. It offers flexibility across sectors and market capitalisations, appealing to investors who prefer focused, research-driven strategies.
Each fund is managed by dedicated teams with cross-sector expertise, including Nikhil Rungta, Mahesh Bendre, Sumit Bhatnagar, Dikshit Mittal, Karan Doshi, Pratik Shroff, and Jaiprakash Toshniwal, among others.
Founded in 1989 and sponsored by LIC of India, LIC Mutual Fund is one of the country’s most established and trusted fund houses. With a strong SIP inflow and a growing suite of offerings, its latest move reinforces its positioning as a dynamic player in India’s evolving mutual fund landscape.
