PM Modi to visit Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan for SCO Summit from Aug 29

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic from August 29 to September 1, with the four-day trip focused on strengthening India’s ties with Central Asia and participating in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit.
Modi will undertake a state visit to Tashkent on August 29-30 at the invitation of Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. This will be his fourth visit to Uzbekistan.
The Prime Minister said on X that his programmes would include “Bilateral talks with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent to improve the India-Uzbekistan friendship” as well as visits to the Shastri Memorial and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.
“Over the next few days, will be in Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic. The programmes include. Bilateral talks with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in Tashkent to improve the India-Uzbekistan friendship. Visit to the Shastri Memorial and the Mahatma Gandhi Centre at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies. Multilateral and bilateral meetings at the SCO Summit in Bishkek,” PM wrote on X before leaving for the visit.
Modi to review cooperation across trade and investment
During his talks with Mirziyoyev, Modi is expected to review cooperation across trade and investment, defence, digital connectivity, energy, education and people-to-people ties. The two leaders will also discuss the way forward for the strategic partnership and exchange views on the shared developmental visions of Viksit Bharat 2047 and Uzbekistan-2030.
After his Uzbekistan visit, Modi will travel to Bishkek at the invitation of Kyrgyz Republic President Sadyr Zhaparov to attend the 26th SCO Summit from August 31 to September 1.
The summit comes as the SCO marks its 25th anniversary. India has been a full member of the grouping since 2017.
Modi will address SCO Summit
Modi will address the summit and highlight India’s priorities of security, connectivity and opportunity” at the forum. He is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with leaders of SCO member countries on the sidelines of the summit.
During his stay in Bishkek, Modi will also attend the opening ceremony of the 6th World Nomad Games, which celebrates the cultural heritage of Central Asia.
The visit comes as India seeks to deepen its economic, strategic and connectivity ties with Central Asian countries, while using platforms such as the SCO to advance its regional priorities.
