"U.S. Central Command forces completed an additional round of strikes against Iran, July 8, to further degrade Iran's ability to attack commercial shipping and innocent civilian mariners in the Strait of Hormuz," the U.S Central Command said in note posted on X.

"U.S. forces struck approximately 90 Iranian military targets including air defence systems, coastal surveillance assets, missile and drone storage sites, naval capabilities, and military logistics infrastructure along Iran’s coastline. The latest strikes follow successful execution of offensive strikes in Iran the night before," the Central Command added.

Meanwhile, Trump posted a number of images and videos from the lasts strikes on Truth Social, and said, "This is a retaliatory measure for Iran's attack yesterday on a vessel transiting the Strait of Hormuz."

The Central Command said the U.S. forces remain vigilant, lethal, and prepared to execute operations directed by the Commander in Chief.

The U.S. military has been carrying on strikes on Iran ever since President Donald Trump declared that the interim agreement to end the war was "over". Immediately after the declaration by Trump, the Central Command initiated fresh strikes. It maintained that the strikes are aimed at degrading Iran to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

"CENTCOM forces hit approximately 80 Iranian military targets July 7, including more than 60 Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps small boats, to impose heavy costs for Iran violating the ceasefire by attacking three commercial vessels navigating the Strait of Hormuz," it added.

US military said that this is a retaliatory measure against Tehran, which has struck three ships in the Strait of Hormuz even as the peace negotiations were going on.

The American forces used precision-guided munitions to target Iranian air defence, command and control, coastal radar sites, and anti-ship missile capabilities.
