Third model in a year targets family mobility space as company scales retail network to 75 outlets by 2026

Nearly two weeks after opening bookings for the VF MPV 7, Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast has launched the model in India at an introductory price of ₹24.49 lakh, marking its entry into the electric Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) segment as it expands its domestic portfolio.
Once launched, it will be pitted against the Mahindra XEV9S, the BYD eMax 7 and the Kia Carens Clavis EV.
The VF MPV 7 is the company’s third product introduction in India within a year, following the VF 6 and VF 7, underlining its aggressive push in one of the fastest-growing EV markets globally.
Positioned as a family-focused offering, the electric MPV is built on a 2,840 mm wheelbase and offers a three-row configuration with a maximum luggage capacity of up to 1,240 litres. The vehicle measures 4,740 mm in length and is designed to cater to multi-generational usage, a key demand driver in the segment.
It is powered by a 60.13 kWh battery pack with an ARAI-certified range of 517 km. The front-wheel-drive powertrain delivers 150 kW and 280 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in under 10 seconds. The model also supports fast charging, with the battery capable of charging from 10% to 70% in around 30 minutes.
Tapan Ghosh, CEO of VinFast India, said, "The launch marks the company’s entry into a new segment while reinforcing its long-term commitment to the Indian market." He added that the product is aimed at customers seeking space, comfort and everyday usability.
The VF MPV 7 will be locally assembled at the company’s facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, in line with its localisation strategy.
Alongside product expansion, VinFast is scaling its distribution footprint. The company plans to expand its retail network to 75 showrooms by the end of 2026, up from 50 currently. It is also targeting over 230 service workshops nationwide through a combination of dealership and partner-led facilities.
At the launch, Ghosh said the company aims to address multiple customer segments in India as it broadens its portfolio.
“With the VF MPV 7, we are entering a new segment, but more importantly, we are expanding our commitment to India,” he said, adding that the model is designed for Indian customers travelling with family or in groups.
He further noted that the company intends to offer a range of products tailored to varied mobility needs in the market.
The company is backing the model with a comprehensive ownership package, including a 10-year battery warranty and a seven-year vehicle warranty, along with roadside assistance and maintenance support.
The launch reflects VinFast’s broader strategy of building scale in India through localisation, portfolio expansion and network growth, amid intensifying competition in the mass-market electric vehicle segment.
