The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) northern region has appointed Anjali Singh, executive chairperson of the ANAND group, as its new chairperson for the year 2025–26. Her appointment follows the untimely demise of Sunjay Kapur, chairman of Sona Comstar, who had taken on the role earlier this year.
“Kapur was a dynamic leader and a driving force behind several progressive industry initiatives. His passing is a profound loss to the industry and the CII fraternity,” the industry body said in a release.
Stepping into the leadership role, Anjali Singh brings decades of expertise in corporate governance, people leadership, and strategic oversight at one of India’s foremost auto component conglomerates, CII said in the release. A strong proponent of the ‘Make in India’ initiative championed by the Prime Minister, she will now spearhead CII’s initiatives across the seven Northern Region states - Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh - as well as the Union Territories of Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh.
“Her appointment reflects not just her leadership in business, but also her deep commitment to the India growth story-one that continues to rise with resilience and ambition,” the release noted.
Outlining her vision for the region, Singh said, “This is a moment of both reflection and responsibility. While I step into this role under extremely sad circumstances, I remain fully committed to serving both the region and the nation to the best of my ability. My key priorities will include driving next-generation reforms across the Northern Region states, launching district development programmes to enhance industry competitiveness, and scaling ESG implementation across all industry sizes.”
“We will also focus on setting up new skill centres to meet future workforce demands, promoting digital and tech adoption among SMEs, and creating an enabling environment for greater participation of women and underrepresented groups in industry. Additionally, we aim to facilitate best practice sharing across states to accelerate learning, foster innovation, and ensure consistent progress across the region,” she added.
Singh is the chairperson of the group supervisory board of the ANAND Group, which oversees the firm’s strategic partnerships, group performance, corporate governance, and long-term vision. She leads the ANAND executive board and holds key leadership roles as executive chairperson of Gabriel India and chairperson of Dana Anand India.
“The Group’s Future Tech segment, ANEVOLVE, reflects its strategic commitment to advancing clean and sustainable technologies—aligned with the evolving landscape of mobility and environmental stewardship,” the release highlighted.
She is currently the co-chair of the CII National Coalition for the Future of Mobility, and has held several leadership positions within CII, including chairperson of the CII Haryana State Council (2023), chairperson of the CII Regional Committee on Advanced Manufacturing, co-chair of the CII National Committee on Smart Manufacturing, and Member of the CII International Council. She has also served as a member of the governing body of the CII–CSM (VLFM) Initiative.
In addition, Singh also serves as chairperson of the western region of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA) and is a member of its executive committee.
The release noted that Singh’s appointment signals continuity in CII’s mission to drive inclusive growth, industrial transformation, and sustainable development in the northern region. This recognition is not only a testament to her exemplary leadership, but also a tribute to her unwavering commitment to building a self-reliant, sustainable, and globally competitive India.
