The Adani Group today said that it has contributed ₹74,945 crore to the Indian exchequer in fiscal year 2025. This marks a 29% increase from ₹58,104 crore the group contributed in the previous year, according to disclosures made by the conglomerate.
As per the group’s statement, the contribution comprises ₹28,720 crore in direct taxes and levies, ₹45,407 crore in indirect contributions—including taxes collected on behalf of others, and ₹818 crore under the ‘other contributions’ category, which includes social security-related outlays.
“To put it in perspective, ₹74,945 crore is roughly the cost of building the entire Mumbai Metro network—an infrastructure lifeline for millions of people. It’s also nearly enough to host a modern-day Olympics,” the Adani Group said in its statement.
The figures are drawn from the annual reports of seven publicly listed Adani entities: Adani Enterprises Ltd ., Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Ltd ., Adani Green Energy Ltd. , Adani Energy Solutions Ltd. , Adani Power Ltd ., Adani Total Gas Ltd ., and Ambuja Cements Ltd . Additionally, the taxes paid by their subsidiaries—NDTV, ACC Ltd., and Sanghi Industries Ltd.—have been included in the total.
The group also released a document titled Basis of Preparation and Approach to Tax, offering a detailed breakdown of its global tax and related contributions. This includes direct taxes borne by the companies, indirect taxes paid on behalf of customers and other stakeholders, and statutory employee-related contributions.
“Adani Group considers tax transparency as an integral part of its broader ESG framework. Through this voluntary initiative, the group aims to demonstrate its commitment to transparency, foster stakeholder trust and contribute to a more accountable global tax environment. The group strives to harmonize growth with social responsibility, aiming to transform India’s infrastructure landscape while promoting innovation and creating long-term value for stakeholders,” the statement added.
As per the Gautam Adani-led conglomerate, Adani Enterprises, the group’s flagship company, along with Adani Ports, Adani Cement, and Adani Green Energy, were among the top contributors to the group’s overall tax outflow.
