Ola Electric on Thursday announced same-day registration and delivery of vehicles as part of a pilot in Bangalore. The Bhavish Aggarwal-led EV maker said this would gradually be scaled up across India during this quarter in a phased manner.

“Customers can now complete their purchase online or at an Ola Electric Store and ride home on their fully registered vehicles in just hours,” the company claimed.

“We have significantly cut the processing time of registering the vehicles through AI led automation and by moving the registration process completely in-house,” an Ola Electric spokesperson said.

“With this we are ensuring a much smoother purchase experience for our customers, eliminating tedious purchase processes and longer delivery timelines,” the spokesperson said.

Ola Electric said it has implemented AI to automate the majority of the steps in a registration process, thereby enabling it to eliminate the middlemen associated with the typical registration process. “This has enabled the company to introduce the initiative of #HyperDelivery...Through this, Ola Electric has brought quick-commerce like experience in automobiles,” it said.

“This industry-first purchase and delivery transformation has been made possible due to the company’s strategic decision to leverage AI for automation and moving its vehicle registration process in-house. By integrating these critical steps into its operations, the company has enabled a much smoother and efficient journey from purchase to delivery,” it said.

Ola Electric trails legacy rivals in electric scooter sales. The company came in third after Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor Company in terms of volumes. Ola Electric registered 3,44,005 units in FY25 with a market share of 30%, maintaining its leadership position in the electric two-wheeler industry for the fiscal. The company also shared that it registered 23,430 units for the month of March 2025 (as per VAHAN), with strong demand across urban and rural markets.

Ola Electric said it has nearly cleared the February backlog and expects to complete the remaining February-March registrations in April 2025. The EV maker settled all outstanding dues between its wholly-owned subsidiary, Ola Electric Technologies Pvt Ltd, and the Rosmerta Group, an operational creditor. An insolvency petition was filed against Ola Electric Technologies by Rosmerta Digital Services Ltd at National Company Law Tribunal’s (NCLT’s) Bengaluru Bench. The insolvency plea alleged a default in payment towards the services rendered by Rosmerta Digital. The EV maker in February revealed that it had renegotiated its agreements with vehicle registration agencies, a decision that led to a temporary impact on registration figures on the VAHAN portal in February. The company stated that the renegotiations were intended to lower costs and simplify the registration process.
