IIM Ahmedabad alumna Daga dabbled in many industries before foraying into the food tech space in 2014 when she started on-demand fine dining venture FreshMenu. From Lebanese falafel, paneer butter masala to a keto peri-peri chicken salad, Daga created a menu that caters to the tastes of every discerning palate. With 40 kitchens across Bengaluru, Mumbai, and the National Capital Region, FreshMenu clocks 20,000 orders a day. The demand is growing and it’s reflecting on the company’s financials. Its revenue in FY18 grew 72% to ₹123 crore but it reported a loss of ₹44 crore. An unfazed Daga, also the firm’s CEO, says, “Profitability would be achieved in the next two months.” So far, FreshMenu has raised $22 million in funding from Lightspeed Venture Partners and Zodius Technology Fund. Earlier this year, there were reports that OYO was looking to acquire FreshMenu. But she clarified she is not going anywhere. “I have no intention of exiting right now,” Daga says. Currently, she is busy preparing a new menu of gourmet pizzas.
