Chhaava box office collection day 2 sees a strong surge as Vicky Kaushal's epic on the Maratha Empire nears ₹100 crore

Vicky Kaushal starrer Chhaava is seeing no signs of stopping. After taking home over ₹31 crore during its Valentine's Day opening, the film has continued its dominance at the box office on the second day as well. On day 2, the movie has raked in ₹36.5 crore across all languages and the film’s India net collection now stands at ₹67.5 crore, as per data from Sacnilk, making it the biggest opener of 2025, surpassing Akshay Kumar’s Sky Force, which had minted ₹15.3 crore on day one.

Now the big question remains, whether the film would romp home into the highly-coveted ₹100 crore club, and if it does, it would be a major milestone for Vicky Kaushal.

Chhaava also maintained strong occupancy, peaking at night with 69.02% in Hindi (2D). Afternoon and evening shows saw occupancy levels of 47.06% and 52.57%, respectively, with morning shows at 32.91%.

Vicky Kaushal, who plays Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Shivaji, expressed gratitude on Instagram: “All your messages, calls… all the videos you all are sharing of your experience of watching Chhaava… I’m seeing it all… taking it all in. Thank you for all your love.”

Rashmika Mandanna, who portrays Maharani Yesubai, also shared her emotional connection to the role, by showcasing a series of photos on her Instagram account. She wrote: “A girl from the South playing Maharani Yesubai... never thought it was possible, and that's why I love working with people who give us hope to dream beyond boundaries.”

Talking about the character that she essayed, she said, “And then the maharani came in all her glory. She is fierce - she is powerful - she is graceful - she is a true queen. Her love is the love I truly relate to - it's so pure so divine and so respectful and so true that Maharaj and Maharani are always connected beyond just words.”

Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Maddock Films, Chhaava also features Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb and Diana Penty as Zinat-un-Nissa Begum. With AR Rahman’s stirring score and a powerful historical narrative, the film is poised for a strong weekend ahead.

Maddock Films, founded by Dinesh Vijan, has established itself as a powerhouse in Bollywood, known for its unique storytelling. The production house gained massive popularity with the horror-comedy Stree (2018), starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor. The film’s success led to the creation of the Stree Universe, a unique blend of supernatural elements and comedy. It expanded with Roohi (2021) and Bhediya (2022), starring Varun Dhawan, further solidifying Maddock’s dominance in the genre. The much-awaited Stree 2, which set the Indian screens on fire last year, became one of the highest grossing Hindi language films ever, minting a staggering ₹600 crore.
