Vittal had a front-row seat to the Cyrus Mistry-Ratan Tata tussle—she was on the board of various Tata Group companies. The “unfortunate spectacle” taught her a vital lesson: “Never discuss absolutely critical issues for the board in a boardroom.” She foresees a reduction in the number of board memberships she holds, which includes Wipro, Zomato, Titan, and Indian Hotels. Outside the corporate world, she is working on urban and agricultural issues in Bihar and Andhra Pradesh through various foundations.
