The sisters have quietly transformed the beverage market in India, starting with just a single product, Frooti, in the 1990s. Sales have grown from less than ₹100 crore then to over ₹4,200 in FY19. The company currently has popular products like Appy, Appy Fizz, Bailley (water), Bailley Soda, Cafe Cuba, Dhishoom, Frio, and Frooti in its portfolio. But Frooti still remains its flagship product, accounting for over 50% of total sales. To extend the already successful franchise of the country’s only fizzy apple drink, Parlé Agro last year launched an affordable ₹10 retail pack of the product. In many ways, Parlé Agro is one of India’s classic FMCG companies which dabbles in a few sharply focussed products and exploits their capacity before expanding its portfolio. For that, the complementary skills of the sisters work out great: Schauna handles all the operations—production and logistics— while Nadia brings the marketing mettle. They are a duo to watch out for.
