Bhartia had to oversee an overhaul of the editorial side of HT Media’s management in the past year. Ad sales in the English media segment continued to suffer. However, the silver lining was the performance of the company’s Hindi media outlets, which showed signs of growth. Bhartia’s cost-cutting activities were significant and showed in the company’s financial results for 2017-18; it ended the year with 3% lower revenues of ₹1,388.65 crore but more than doubled its net profit to ₹213.74 crore.
