Ekambaram, a veteran at the Kotak Mahindra group, has overseen the growth of the bank’s consumer business, especially on the digital front. She is in charge of driving data analytics and leveraging it across various customer segments.Thanks to its digitally-enabled 811 account, the bank has witnessed a jump in customer addition and its retail business has grown stronger. In March 2017, when the 811 account was launched, the bank had 8 million customers. By June 2018, the number had grown to over 14.5 million. Due to the successful integration of ING Vysya branches last year—which Ekambaram significantly contributed to—the bank has been able to scale up operations this year. The average savings account balance grew 59% in the June quarter to ₹65,135 crore from the year-ago period, while mobile banking volumes jumped 172% to cross 10 million.
