Unilever's move to focus more on wellness and mental health during the pandemic resulted in a 19% increase in employee wellbeing scores this year, its highest ever. "When you look after your people, they will look after the business," says Leena Nair, chief human resource officer. The first female, first Asian, and the youngest-ever CHRO of Unilever, who started her career as a management trainee at Hindustan Lever in 1992, says her big realisation during the pandemic was that while people were facing the same storm, they were not all in the same boat. "We couldn't take a one-size-fits-all approach," she says.
