From Covid-19 to the perils of climate change, potential calamities that can impact millions of human lives across the world are of concern to Anshula Kant, MD and CFO, World Bank Group. "We must mobilise everyone and everything we can to reverse today's climate trends, and in doing so we need to support vulnerable communities," Kant said on September 23, while announcing the World Bank's plan to issue $10 billion in Sustainable Development Bonds. Kant is responsible for mobilising funds for International Development Assistance (IDA), an arm of World Bank that provides financing at zero- or very low-interest rates and grants to low-income countries. In FY20 alone, IDA raised up to $5 billion from the markets. She also looks after the financial and risk management aspects of the World Bank Group, which has so far deployed $157 billion worth of financing to countries to handle the pandemic.
