This year, Nair was made head of HUL’s beauty and personal care division. Covid-19 dented revenues of this division, with a fall of 12% in Q1. Similarly in Q2, while HUL’s overall revenue saw a 16% gain, the beauty and personal care segment remained flat. Part of the reason could be that the segment headed by her is seen as discretionary by the consumer, rather than essential, especially in the context of the lockdown.
