At the beginning of the pandemic last year, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (HUL) veteran Priya Nair moved into her new role as head of the company's biggest division — beauty and personal care — which clocked in about ₹18,000 crore in revenue in FY21. Her immediate priority was simple: make the country's largest hygiene brand Lifebuoy accessible to consumers. Lifebuoy launched 15 new product variations within just 30 days. Its hand sanitiser "became the largest selling hand sanitiser brand in the country," says Nair. She also pushed the Lifebuoy brand across tele-health initiatives, through a tie-up with Practo. As businesses started to open up, her focus shifted to beauty. This time with brand Dove and its 'Stop The Beauty Test' campaign. As the leader of the largest business division within the FMCG behemoth, her responsibilities during the pandemic grew manifold. "Just holding the team together, finding ways of working has been the most important thing," she adds.
