When Suparna Mitra took over as CEO of the watches and wearables division at Titan, Covid-19 struck. Uncertainty was the buzzword, and nobody had the formula to navigate it. Slowly, as personal fitness became the trend post Covid and the wearables division experienced fresh demand, she and her team found a new direction. The watches and wearables division demonstrated a 280% year-on-year growth during the April-June quarter of FY22, while revenue almost doubled to ₹292 crore. Understandably, unlike most, Mitra doesn't think that watches have gone out of fashion. In fact, watches available earlier for ₹10,000 now cost ₹4,000-5,000. Mitra is looking at double-digit growth in the near future, especially with the festival season ahead.
