From starting off as a lawyer in the early 1980s and securing a place in the quintessentially male bastion to handling top cases, including BharatPe and Sony-Zee merger, the journey has been particularly satisfying for Pallavi Shroff, managing partner, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas and Co. (SAM & Co.). Work wise, the last one year has been good, says Shroff. “On the professional side, I handled the entire BharatPe issue, including different aspects like whether the funds were siphoned off, corporate governance problems, and shareholder dispute,” says Shroff. BharatPe was embroiled in a boardroom battle with its founder and former MD Ashneer Grover. “I was personally involved in all these aspects. A lot of lessons have been drawn from there on the start-up industry,” she adds. On the transaction advisory side, Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas and Co advised Sony Pictures Networks India on Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd’s merger deal with it, and also worked on two deals for Biocon.
